First Run Day on a Completed Mainline!
February 28, 2010

Despite the numerous rainy days on this trip out for Dad, the goal of completing the mainline all the way around to the backyard and through the new farmstead/lumber area was accomplished! And with a couple days to spare!

Fosterville has been in place for some time.

The Santa Maria boxcar was a gift from my friends at the railroad. Thanks, guys!

The mining operation took shape recently.

Here's the first glimpse of the new farmstead and lumber operations area clear around in the back yard.

The small building on the right is a model of the Land Office building which still sits at the corner of Hiway One and Halcyon up on the mesa.

Here's an overview of the new farmstead/lumber area.

Another angle on the new farmstead/lumber area.

Connecting the rear yard farmstead/lumber area to the front yard Fosterville area meant traversing the back yard, under the trampoline, along the wood pile, across the sidewalk, through the tunnel, and finally out on the other side.

Dad and I got a little time to work out some kinks, and then the kids arrived for the real operating test...

Once he learned how to activate the whistle there were plenty of sound effects.

There's a siding in the tunnel, and with two or three trains
running there was almost always a train waiting there for a meet.
