Regusci Branch, Pathway, Party
09/11/05

Now there's a kid that likes railroading! By the way, Jamie has very clear childhood memories of riding similar handcars at Knoebel's Grove in central Pennsylvania. And the kiddie cars still run there today (for $.60 a ride!). (Scroll down to "Hand Cars" if necessary.) The one pictured (at the Knoebel's Grove site) could have been the very one Jamie rode about 40 years ago! The PB&JRR handcar pictured above as well as all the track supplies to-date have come from RMI Railworks in Fresno, CA.

This was actually the day before when Lynn was helping grade this slight incline. The overall gradient was only 6" over 35', but 5" of it occured over the last 15 feet. So the maximum height was lowered a bit and the remaining gradient was made into a nice even 1% climb.

Work all day, party all evening!

Tracy and Lynn assemble the trampoline.

While Serafina sleeps.

We got the switch working a little better, but still some more fine tuning to do.

Hauling ballast.

We got the grade in and ballasted. The broom makes a very handy pusher.

The newly-completed segment of the Regusci Branch (see flat car at right) allowed us to haul rock right to the pathway.

A day of hard work can make one pretty silly.

Sam got the job done!

So did Hunter.

Sam pulls Hunter and Bob as Sara looks on.
