Saturday Work Day

A rare photo of the webman.

There was quite a crew out at Bitter Creek today! The activities included replacing a section of mainline track, track cleaning (leaf and needle raking, mostly), and pouring piers for the carbarn extension.

Track decommissioning - with a hammer!

Some of the old ties were sacrificed to the track gods.

At left, Karl points out a tie that is in amazingly good shape given that it's at least 30 years old having come as a used tie from LA Live Steamers decades ago. It was part of the section being replaced.

The replacement track is in place and lightly ballasted. Now comes dialing in the track geometry.
