About 200 people joined in the railroading fun today known as Choo Chew Saturday, a fundraiser for the Santa Maria Valley Railway Historical Museum (SMVRHM). See more pictures from Jill.  Don gets the Museum store ready for the day.   Jack fires up his locomotive, Alcalde & Coalfield No. 9.    And the BBQ crew fires up as well.  Kevin and Bob bring SMVRR No. 1801 down from the Mountain Division for the day's activities.  Charlie and CP No. 229.     Harry engineers this Union Pacific loco with a full compliment of passengers.  This plaque marks the spot of the Golden Spike ceremony marking the completion of the mainline at the BCWRR in December of 1986. At the time, the railroad was known as the San Luis Southern Railroad.  Passengers boarded at the station all day long.   No. 9 heads out of the station with a full load.   Bill ran the SP X-1 most of the day.  And Dr. Marcus was his conductor.  Phil joined the stationmaster crew today, and served as conductor on several trains.  Ken thoroughly enjoys station master duties as well.  The Santa Maria-style BBQ is always a big hit.   Aaron engineers his doodlebug.  Doug developed quite a following, including these excited little railroaders that took home a piece of real coal!
